Act for World Water Day. Monday, March 22, is World Water Day. Did you know that 1 in 8 people does not have access to clean drinking water? That’s 884 million people. Staggering, isn’t it? If you purchase Crystal Light Packets on Monday, 100% of the profits will be given to The Nature Conservancy to support freshwater conservation efforts! If you like the drink or know someone who does, please try to make a donation on Monday. Here are some other tips for saving water and taking action.

Pass the Public Lands Service Corps Act: Comments are needed by Sunday, March 21 in order to help create service-learning (volunteering) opportunities for youth in our public lands. Can you imagine a greater way to learn about environmental stewardship, science, nature, and countless other subjects than actually taking part in helping to restore habitat, measure growth and animal populations, and more? It will also provide jobs for people across America in implementing the program. Let’s help make this awesome idea happen by writing our representatives today!

Ask Congress to Protect Us From Toxic Chemicals: They’re in everything, aren’t they? From our personal care products (shampoos, soaps, deodorants, etc.) to our furniture to our Tupperware, harmful chemicals are causing damage on the American people every day. Sure, we can pay attention, ready every ingredient and boycott what we can while we pay extra for things that are safer; but wouldn’t it be nice if such dangerous chemicals weren’t even allowed in the products we use daily? In order to help reduce (and hopefully eliminate!) these toxic chemicals from our everyday products, we can ask Congress to revisit and reform the Toxic Substances Control Act.

Create Sustainability at Home and Abroad: OPIC, the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation, is accepting comments on how it handles its environmental and social policy until March 22 (Monday). This group has helped fund some extremely dangerous operations that have resulted in destruction and death for humans, animals, and the environment.
